First week after break. More lyrics.

Dear families,

Welcome back!

I feel that I spent my break with your children, and am looking forward to a new and exciting quarter.

This week, we have parent teacher conferences and shorter school days, so all grades in music class will be focused on singing as much as possible.

I am including lyrics to four more songs for grades 2 through 5. I have recorded parts for "Round and Round and have included part recordings in a separate post. Now that I know how to upload my recorded links, I will be doing this for other songs, as needed.

Enjoy!

Third Grade
Autumn Vesper
Over wood and wold, over flood and fell,
Over flashing lake and gleaming dell,
The harvest moon looks down.
The harvest moon looks down.

And when heaven smiles with love and light,
And earth looks back so dazzling bright,
In such a scene, on such a night,
Earth’s children should not frown.

The harvest moon casts a magical glow,
Enchanting all the world below.
Bathed in a silvered shine, behold nature’s face divine.

And when heaven smiles with love and light,
And earth looks back so dazzling bright,
In such a scene, on such a night,
Earth’s children should not frown,
Earth’s children should not frown.

When the harvest moon looks down,
Earth’s children should not frown.

Fifth Grade
Louisiana 1927
What has happened down here is the winds have changed?
Clouds roll in from the north and it started to rain
Rained real hard and rained for a real long time
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline

The river rose all day, the river rose all night
Some people got lost in the flood, some people got away alright.
The river have busted through cleared down to plaque mines
Six feet of water in the streets of Evangeline
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away

President Coolidge came down in a railroad train
With a little fat man with a note-pad in his hand
The president say, "Little fat man isn't it a shame
What the river has done to this poor crackers land"

Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tyrin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
Louisiana, Louisiana
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
They're tryin' to wash us away
